Position Overview:
As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of automation specialists. Your primary responsibility will be to create precise budgets and project proposals that encapsulate key concepts, operational sequences, and mechanical specifications, ultimately delivering tailored, innovative, and integrated solutions for our clientele. This role is ideal for an inventive engineer who enjoys engaging with customers and tackling challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze customer technical requirements and specifications to prepare System Concepts, Cost Estimates, Risk Assessments, and Proposal Documents that articulate the scope and functionality of the proposed work.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate practices, procedures, and tools, particularly those tailored for the Applications Engineering Department.
  • Coordinate and manage extensive multi-business unit proposals.
  • Oversee core customer accounts.
  • Formulate internal strategies for success, understanding customer challenges, and guiding the development of winning proposal packages.
  • Create and present conceptual solutions for customer challenges that may lack standard resolutions, utilizing various CAD formats.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and conduct docket review meetings with minimal oversight from senior engineers.
  • Organize and facilitate both preliminary and final quote package reviews for internal and external stakeholders, including Concept Solutions, Cycle Time Charts, Flow Charts, Risk Assessments, System Costs, proposed Delivery Schedules, and potential Customer Requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive proposals that clearly define the scope of work, production rates, machine buy-off requirements, and customer part specifications throughout all project phases, including necessary assumptions and exceptions.
  • Mentor junior Applications Engineers, co-ops, and interns.
  • Support Account Managers by leveraging customer insights and competitive advantages in proposals.
  • Travel independently or accompany an Account Manager as needed.
  • Present findings and proposals in meetings with internal teams, upper management, and customers.
  • Maintain relevant assignment-specific fields in the company CRM.
  • Schedule and lead Project Kick-Off Meetings for PEP.
  • Assist project team members by facilitating necessary Tollgate Meetings for awarded projects and consulting with Project Managers regarding scope changes.
  • Participate in early-phase project design reviews to ensure compliance with the agreed-upon scope of work.
  • Exhibit similar responsibilities to those of an Applications Engineer II, with enhanced practical experience and leadership capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • 5-7+ years of relevant industry experience, particularly in leading successful automation projects.
  • Expertise in all Applications Engineering processes and tools.
  • Preferred background in Body in White applications and quoting.
  • Experience in sales and customer engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience; Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering is preferred.
