Job Overview

The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of the Neurosciences Clinics (Neurology and Neurosurgery) . This role is pivotal in enhancing our service line, ensuring we provide exceptional care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Neuroscience Service Line, the Assistant Director will play a key role in shaping and implementing strategies for Neuro-Diagnostics and Teleservices. This position will also involve overseeing operations that impact financial performance, patient satisfaction, and clinical effectiveness across the health system. Collaboration with managers and directors within the service line will be essential to optimize planning, enhance revenue cycles, and improve processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee improvements in departmental operations, including scheduling, resource utilization, patient flow, and support from ancillary departments. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards. Identify operational benchmarks and implement changes to enhance efficiency. Collaborate with external departments to initiate workflow modifications that lead to service enhancements and cost savings. Actively participate in committees and task forces to establish and achieve departmental objectives. Recognize challenges, propose solutions, and act as a catalyst for change. Work alongside the Executive Director to identify growth opportunities within key service areas. Foster external relationships, assist with contracts, and support business planning and performance tracking. Participate in budgeting and financial planning for the Neuroscience department. Plan for capital investments and facility needs, contributing to economic assessments and operational evaluations. Monitor and manage departmental budgets in accordance with established guidelines. Establish and track labor productivity metrics. Ensure the accuracy of financial data and program information. Prepare and present regular reports to leadership regarding budget performance and growth targets.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration is required. A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in healthcare management, particularly in fiscal oversight and operations. Experience in managing neuro diagnostics suites and clinics is essential. Strong understanding of cost reduction strategies, financial performance metrics, and budgeting processes. Familiarity with capital acquisition processes and strategic investment decision-making. Proven leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively engage with high-level internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree is preferred. Experience in an academic medical center is advantageous. Knowledge of hospital billing practices is beneficial. Understanding of purchasing and supply chain management is a plus.
