This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the growth and profitability of the US Commercial Lines product lines at Markel Service Inc.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and profitability
- Lead and manage underwriting teams to ensure quality work products and adherence to underwriting strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business results and improve operational efficiency
- Provide leadership and direction to underwriting teams to achieve business objectives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external broker partners and clients
- Drive results through effective communication and leadership
- Present to senior management on key indicators, metrics, and drivers that impact business goals
- Act as a knowledge expert within the company on industry trends related to assigned products
- 8-10+ years of Professional Liability insurance underwriting experience
- Recent underwriting leadership or product management experience of US Commercial Lines product lines
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited University/College
- Broad understanding of claims, actuarial, product development, regulatory, and compliance functions
- Strong Retail/Wholesale broker relationships on a national scale
- Strong interpersonal and management skills, ability to communicate effectively, and excellent negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills and excellent problem-solving/decision-making abilities
- Ability to work extended hours and travel at short notice
- Minimum travel 35%
