Position Overview
The Research Laboratory Specialist will collaborate with fellow scientists to conduct experimental analyses of small molecule compounds. This role is particularly suited for postdoctoral researchers in the Chicago area who are eager to transition into the industry and engage in groundbreaking research focused on compounds aimed at treating psychiatric disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct experiments utilizing techniques such as ELISA, western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation, confocal microscopy, nucleic acid extractions, and molecular cloning.
  • Adhere strictly to laboratory protocols and best practices in cell culture.
  • Work in partnership with computational biologists and project managers to design experimental studies and analyze results.
  • Implement experimental plans and meticulously document the data collection process.
  • Generate data quality control reports and regularly present findings to leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by supporting colleagues to achieve study and project objectives.

Work Environment
This position is based in Chicago, IL, and requires 100% in-person attendance.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $93,000 to $120,000 annually.

Qualifications:
  • A postgraduate degree in a Biology-related field (MS or PhD, with a preference for PhD candidates). A background in neurobiology or neuroscience is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, particularly with neural cell lines.
  • Experience with rodent models and relevant certifications.
  • Proficiency in the methodologies mentioned above, with the capability to initiate experiments and produce results with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of statistical methods for quantifying and analyzing experimental data.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology and related analytical methods is advantageous.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Graphpad Prism.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to cultivate effective relationships with both internal and external collaborators.
