Pharmaceutical Services Technician
As a key member of the pharmacy team, the Pharmaceutical Services Technician plays a vital role in assisting pharmacists to deliver safe and effective medication services to patients. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with the policies and procedures of TalentBurst, as well as adhering to state and federal regulations.

The technician operates under the direct oversight of a licensed pharmacist, contributing to the medication dispensing process through various tasks including data entry, prescription preparation, claims processing, and the packaging and delivery of medications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately entering and processing new and refill prescription requests, along with supply and equipment orders, while upholding productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Filling patient prescriptions with precision by selecting the correct medications, verifying quantities, and preparing medication labels.
  • Routing orders to the pharmacist for verification and clarification as necessary.
  • Inputting data into the pharmacy management system to ensure the generation of required documentation.
  • Choosing appropriate supplies and ancillary items based on medication needs and patient preferences.
  • Communicating with patients, caregivers, and prescribers to secure refill authorizations and gather essential information for patient profiles.
  • Managing pharmacy claims, addressing and resolving claim denials, and liaising with insurance providers as needed.
  • Assisting with inventory management and procurement of products and equipment.
  • Ensuring that client-specific materials are included with orders and prepared for dispatch.
  • Supporting the shipping process by selecting suitable packing materials and methods, and generating shipping labels.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the dispensing area and replenishing supplies before the end of each shift.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to both patients and internal stakeholders.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned that align with pharmacy operations, excluding those requiring a pharmacist's professional judgment.

Qualifications include three to five years of experience in a pharmacy setting, a solid understanding of pharmaceutical terminology and specialty pharmacy services, and the ability to perform intermediate pharmaceutical calculations. The technician must maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and proprietary information, adhere to legal and ethical standards, and comply with HIPAA regulations. Participation in the assessment and reporting of medication-related incidents and equipment failures is also required, along with the completion of quality assurance documentation for the supervising pharmacist. All activities must align with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
