Role Summary:

The Pharmaceutical Services Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists to deliver safe and effective pharmaceutical care to patients. This position operates under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist and is responsible for various tasks related to medication dispensing and patient support, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Process new and refill medication orders while adhering to productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Accurately prepare patient prescriptions by selecting the correct medications, verifying quantities, and generating appropriate labels.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists for order verification and clarification as necessary.
  • Input data into the pharmacy management system to facilitate proper documentation.
  • Choose suitable supplies and ancillary items based on medication needs and patient preferences.
  • Communicate with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to secure necessary refill authorizations and clarify orders.
  • Manage pharmacy claims, troubleshoot rejections, and liaise with insurance providers as needed.
  • Assist in inventory management and procurement of pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure that client-specific materials are correctly matched with orders for shipment.
  • Participate in the packaging and shipping process, ensuring proper materials and methods are used.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensing area and replenish supplies as required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both patients and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgment.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical terminology and specialty pharmacy services.
  • Ability to perform intermediate pharmaceutical calculations for accurate medication dosing.
  • Understanding of the organization’s service offerings and structure.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Engagement in the assessment and reporting of medication-related incidents.
  • Completion of quality assurance documentation as required.
  • Compliance with all accreditation, legal, and safety standards.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties if necessary.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED is required.
