Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmaceutical Care Technician to join our team at Prime Therapeutics. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient operation of our pharmacy services while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist to accurately label and package medications according to established protocols.
  • Manage incoming calls related to pharmacy operations and assist with inquiries.
  • Assemble and prepare medication shipments, ensuring all items are correctly packaged for delivery.
  • Maintain precise inventory records, including monitoring expiration dates of medications.
  • Participate in scheduled departmental meetings to discuss workflow and improvements.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments, including customer service and billing, to facilitate timely processing of patient orders.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to verify prescription details and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Create and manage pre-packaged supply items for efficiency.
  • Uphold all necessary licensure and certifications as mandated for pharmacy technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Prepare delivery documentation, including tickets for prescriptions and supplies.
  • Process new and refill prescriptions accurately within the pharmacy management system.
  • Recognize and classify different medication types, dosage forms, and administration routes.
  • Verify the completeness of prescription information before processing.

Qualifications

  • A valid pharmacy intern license or active pharmacy technician certification as required by state law.
  • Previous experience in specialty or retail pharmacy settings is preferred.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Experience in medication order preparation and processing.

Education and Certifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Required: Active pharmacy technician certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) as per state requirements.
