Head of Product Innovation

Position Summary: The Head of Product Innovation at Martin Foods LP will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction, creativity, and implementation of our product innovation strategies. This role involves leading a diverse team of Research & Development Managers, Food Scientists, Culinary Experts, and Technicians to envision, design, develop, and introduce new products that resonate with the company's overarching vision and objectives. A combination of technical knowledge, strategic insight, and robust leadership is essential to navigate the product development journey from concept to market launch.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction:
- Formulate and execute the product innovation roadmap in accordance with corporate goals and market needs.
- Stimulate creativity by pinpointing new opportunities, analyzing market trends, and performing competitive assessments.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ensure cohesive and successful product introductions.
Team Leadership:
- Guide, mentor, and motivate a team of Research & Development Managers, Food Scientists, and Technicians.
- Encourage a culture of innovation, teamwork, and accountability within the product innovation team.
- Establish clear objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.
Product Development Process:
- Oversee the comprehensive product development process from ideation, requirements gathering, and design to development, testing, and launch.
- Ensure timely delivery of products within budget constraints while meeting quality benchmarks.
- Evaluate and enhance product performance post-launch through data analysis and user feedback.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Articulate product development strategies, progress, and results to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Engage closely with senior management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align product development activities with business goals.
- Act as the primary representative for the product team, articulating product strategy and vision both internally and externally.
Performance Evaluation and Enhancement:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess product success and effectiveness.
- Track performance metrics, analyze data, and implement enhancements to optimize product outcomes and user satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate product strategies, progress, and challenges to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience (typically 7+ years) in product management or product innovation roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to convert data into actionable strategies.
- Experience in team management, fostering innovation, and achieving results.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Awareness of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory standards pertinent to product innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Business, or a related discipline.
