Your Role
As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team, characterized by a blend of creativity, diligence, and technical expertise. You will excel in a dynamic environment, focusing on process safety and risk management. This position offers a unique chance to establish and implement a comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) program from the ground up.

Team Collaboration
You will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, all working towards a common goal. Our approach begins with fundamental principles, advancing to the development of new materials, and designing processes for pilot-scale and commercial production. Your role will involve close cooperation with specialists in Process, Equipment, Manufacturing, and Environmental Health and Safety on intricate, long-term projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide engineers, project managers, and construction teams in evaluating process safety requirements.
  • Facilitate process hazard analysis (PHA) activities, including quantitative risk assessments (QRA), HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops.
  • Review engineering documentation and existing systems to ensure compliance with internal and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain Sila's standards and guidelines related to Process Safety.
  • Assess physical impacts and consequences of specific process safety scenarios.
  • Conduct risk assessments for emerging safety issues and formulate mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee internal investigations of incidents and near misses, defining corrective actions and ensuring their implementation.
  • Influence cross-functional teams and drive technical solutions effectively.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with over 5 years of experience in process safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, CGA, and CCPS.
  • Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program requirements.
  • Proven ability to implement protection strategies and identify risk reduction measures.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently on complex problems.
  • Willingness to challenge norms and promote continuous improvement.
  • Experience with dust explosion hazard analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with process simulation tools is advantageous.
Work Environment
  • Adhere to safety protocols by wearing personal protective equipment, including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Be prepared for mobility across various locations and maintain focus for extended periods.
  • Utilize office equipment, including computers and printers, in a designated workspace.

Compensation
The starting salary for this position ranges from $151,000 to $177,503, depending on qualifications and experience. This salary is part of a comprehensive rewards package that includes benefits, equity, and bonuses.
