Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ADAS Safety Engineer to join our team at Pony. As an ADAS Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our autonomous driving features and ADAS features. Your primary responsibilities will include eliciting functional safety requirements, developing verification and validation methods for Functional Safety and SOTIF, and analyzing triggering events like misuse scenarios and changing environment conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define Technical Solutions: Develop creative technical solutions to improve the performance and safety of ADAS features.
  • Develop Work Products: Create work products in accordance with our internal safety process based on existing industry standards.
  • Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment: Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment based on a functional system specification and identify risk acceptance criteria.
  • Functional Insufficiencies and Triggering Events: Identify potential functional insufficiencies and triggering events by utilizing analysis techniques such as HAZOP, FTA, FMEA, STPA, and misuse analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that our ADAS feature safety concepts and requirements are aligned with the overall system design strategy.
  • Verification and Validation: Derive verification and validation test cases to demonstrate the safety of ADAS features.
  • Process Improvement: Provide feedback and improve the internal development processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • ADAS System Engineering Background: Strong ADAS system engineering background.
  • Industry Standards: Working knowledge of relevant standards and methods such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448.
  • System Safety Engineering: Experience performing System Safety Engineering tasks for ADAS features such as various analysis techniques (HAZOP/HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA, etc).
  • Technical Solutions: Ability to drive technical solutions for SW and HW design in safety concepts.
  • Requirements Writing: Experienced in requirements writing based on industry best practices.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Team Experience: Experience working within a cross-functional team.
Preferred Experience
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: General knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence is a plus.
  • System-Theoretic Process Analysis: Work experience applying System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a plus.
  • System and Vehicle Simulation Techniques: Knowledge of system and vehicle simulation techniques used for ADAS features is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

Pony offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $100,000 - $180,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on many factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, retirement plan, life insurance, paid time off, family leave, short-term and long-term disability, and free food and snacks.
