Your Role
As a Process Safety Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining safety standards within our organization. Your expertise in process safety and risk management will be essential in guiding project teams through necessary safety modifications and engineering controls. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and guidance to engineers, project managers, and construction teams on process safety requirements.
  • Lead process hazard analysis (PHA) initiatives, including quantitative risk assessments (QRA), HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops.
  • Review engineering documentation and existing equipment to ensure compliance with internal and industry safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety standards, specifications, and guidelines pertinent to Process Safety.
  • Assess potential physical impacts and consequences of specific process safety scenarios.
  • Conduct risk assessments for emerging safety issues and formulate mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee internal investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Collaborate with various departments to drive technical solutions and influence safety practices across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, CGA, and CCPS.
  • Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program regulations.
  • Experience in implementing risk reduction strategies and safety management practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being capable of independent problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Experience with dust explosion hazard analysis and process simulation is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to move between buildings and remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Proficient in using office equipment and technology.
