Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Architect to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our network engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our classified network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement network architecture to ensure smooth operation of voice and data networks.
  • Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.
  • Maintain network management software platforms and propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage.
  • Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.
  • Network designs that include selection of hardware and software packages, hierarchical architecture, and geographical limitations.
  • Work with program engineers to resolve networking problems in tactical environments.
  • Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical team through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
  • Typically Requires a bachelor's degree with 5 years' relevant experience in Network Engineering/Technology roles, a master's degree with 3 years' experience, or Associates with 7 years' experience.
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and/or intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in Security+ within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is highly desired within a year.
  • Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.
  • Experience with access control list, security posture, and vendor best practices.
  • Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities.
  • 1-2 years of experience with network management software.
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.
  • Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
  • Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance.
