Key Responsibilities:


The Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist will assess, organize, and implement medically prescribed rehabilitation therapy for pediatric patients in a home health context.

They will guide the patient and their caregivers in specific tasks aimed at restoring, reinforcing, and enhancing performance.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assess, evaluate, and provide remedial treatments for pediatric patients.


2. Deliver clinical interventions to patients, including screenings, evaluations, direct treatment, and training for families/caregivers regarding status, progress, goals, home programming, and discharge planning.

3. Coordinate patient care with office personnel and other disciplines.


4. Maintain effective communication with pediatric patients and their families regarding progress, challenges, home programs, and other relevant issues related to the therapeutic process.

5. Refer patients and family members to appropriate services, including other professionals, agencies, and resources as necessary.

6. Consult with physicians on patient progress and maintain accurate records.

7. Manage supplies and equipment.

8. Present at internal and external educational functions, which may include periodic in-service presentations.

9. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.

10. Engage in Continuing Education activities to expand the scope of service.

11. Maintain an adequate caseload with appropriate productivity.

12. Collaborate proactively with team members to achieve company and departmental objectives.

13. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues.

14. Mentor students and new hires.

15. Engage in professional organizations and activities.

16. Demonstrate initiative and independent judgment in all job responsibilities.

17. Serve as a backup service provider for other caseloads as needed.

18. Adhere to all company policies, practices, and procedures.

19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required.

- Current state-issued professional licensure.

- Valid state driver’s license.

- CPR certification.

- Pediatric clinical experience preferred.

- Home health experience preferred.

Other Qualifications and Skills:

- Ability to read and write in simple correspondence with effective public speaking skills in small groups.

- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.

- Ability to interpret instructions and solve practical problems with various concrete variables.

- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, record keeping, and routine database activities.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

- Spends one-third to two-thirds of time standing, walking, reaching, sitting, kneeling, and crawling.

- Over two-thirds of time is spent using hands, fingers, and will handle, feel, talk, and hear.

- Diverse indoor residential or childcare settings.

- Moderate physical activity performing strenuous therapy-related tasks.

- Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements.

- Moderate noise levels (i.e., business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic).
