About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our immersive apprenticeship program at Destination DC. This unique opportunity will provide hands-on work experience in various aspects of destination marketing and management.

As an apprentice, you'll rotate through different departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of DDC's operations:

  • Executive Office: Assist with strategic direction, budget management, stakeholder relations, and overall organizational operations.
  • Partnerships & Alliances: Learn about building and maintaining strong relationships with key industry partners, such as hotels, restaurants, and attractions.
  • Convention Sales & Services: Gain insights into convention sales, lead generation, contract negotiation, client engagement, and event execution.
  • Tourism, Sports, and Visitor Experience: Promote tourism, sports events, and enhance the visitor experience in Washington, D.C.
  • Marketing & Communications: Develop and implement effective marketing and communications strategies, including social media, public relations, and digital marketing.

Beyond rotations, you'll attend company-wide and departmental meetings, contribute to general department duties, and participate in professional development opportunities.

Duration: This apprenticeship is a 6-month commitment from January to July, requiring 28 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 days/week in-person, Mondays - Fridays.

What You Bring

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A resident of Washington D.C.
  • Early career professional experience in hospitality, tourism, marketing, communications, or a related field (including internship experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology; Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom.
  • Exceptional customer service and business etiquette skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interest in the travel and tourism economy.
  • Enthusiasm for Washington, D.C.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $45,000-$60,000 annually, based on your level of experience and education. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
