Job Overview

WSP is seeking a Senior Geological Consultant to join our team.

This role involves providing expert technical support and direction for extensive environmental projects, including site assessments, subsurface investigations, and remediation efforts. The consultant will conduct geophysical assessments and analyze geological data across various mediums such as soil, groundwater, and air. The role requires substantiating reports and documentation to inform on field conditions and evaluate risks to both ecological and human health. The consultant will collaborate with project leaders on site evaluations, remediation strategies, and the management of contaminated materials. Ensuring that all responsibilities are executed with a high standard of quality is paramount.

Your Contributions
  • Establish precise data collection methodologies for environmental data extraction from various sources, including soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Support environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).
  • Investigate historical land use through environmental hazmat databases.
  • Oversee site investigations, including subsurface boring and trenching, as well as groundwater monitoring.
  • Assist in managing drilling subcontractors during sample collection and well installations.
  • Create data visualizations, including mineral charts and geological cross-sections.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control standards for measurements and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and planning of medium-scale projects.
  • Produce thorough documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
  • Draft technical reports and presentations detailing research findings and recommendations for environmental remediation.
  • Monitor equipment performance and manage inventory.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of geological and hydrogeological data to support action plans for risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to execute project tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and site-specific procedures.
  • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards regarding data integrity and documentation.
  • Engage professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making in resource management and conduct.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary based on business needs.
Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience as a Geologist.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) certification required.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in geological research techniques.
  • Knowledge of hazardous substance reduction and mitigation programs.
  • Familiarity with environmental laws and compliance practices.
  • Experience in soil and groundwater sampling using various drilling methods.
  • Experience conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Experience with UST investigations and remediation.
  • Experience evaluating vapor intrusion and soil gas sampling.
  • Experience installing monitoring and remediation wells.
  • Proficient in technical writing and communication.
  • Strong leadership skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior team members.
  • Proficiency with office software and technical tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to direct field personnel effectively.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours as project demands require.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project requirements.
Preferred
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
