Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team of design professionals in Rockville, MD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water resources engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete water resources engineering for transportation and bridge projects, drainage improvements, SWM remediation, erosion and sediment controls, and stream restoration projects.
  • Design open and closed storm drain systems and develop stormwater management systems.
  • Perform hydrology and hydraulics modeling of open channels, floodplains, and bridge hydraulics.
  • Produce construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Obtain permit approvals from state and local agencies.
  • Coordinate internally with other AMT engineers on a wide variety of projects.
  • Coordinate externally with clients and regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred; Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam required.
  • Minimum 5 years of water resources related experience, including design.
  • Strong MicroStation/Geopak/InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills.
  • Hydrology and hydraulic modeling experience (PC-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and similar).
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within project teams.
  • Team-spirited, focused, and able to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
