Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Planning, Design and Construction to lead our capital projects and major renovations at the University of Vermont. As a key member of our Facilities Management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, design, and construction processes for all capital projects and major renovations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for architectural, space use, and construction services personnel.
  • Oversee the development and revisions of the Campus Plan and ensure projects align with the Campus Plan and the Comprehensive Sustainability Plan.
  • Manage permitting, state, and local regulatory requirements, and oversee the campus space inventory, associated database, and AutoCAD building diagrams.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and projections, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, laws, and regulations related to the construction industry.
  • Collaborate with top management, including boards of trustees, presidents, provosts, deans, and directors, to make constructive policy recommendations and reconcile differing viewpoints.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of ten years of related work experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated complex, hands-on experience in overall management of capital project design, construction, and financial management.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction/design trade industry, including knowledge of construction materials and their application, familiarity with construction-related software (Bluebeam, Revit, Procore, etc.).
  • Effective communication, presentation, problem-solving, and team-building skills are essential.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's degree in architecture or engineering from an accredited college or university.
