Position Overview:

The Human Resources Generalist is tasked with performing professional-level responsibilities to facilitate the daily functions of the HR Department. This role encompasses various administrative tasks, including the management of sensitive and confidential communications.

Compensation: $22.00-$26.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage confidential materials and make decisions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Maintain personnel records for current and former employees, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and organized.
  • Screen candidate resumes and conduct preliminary phone interviews to assist in the recruitment process.
  • Provide administrative support for the Predictive Index (PI) job targeting processes, including sending assessments to candidates.
  • Retrieve onboarding documents for prospective hires through the Agency's Application Tracking System.
  • Assist in conducting and monitoring pre-employment inquiries as required.
  • Collaborate with new hires to gather and organize onboarding documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to their start date.
  • Create personnel files for new employees.
  • Input new hire information into the Agency's Human Resources Information System.
  • Coordinate and conduct new-hire orientation sessions.
  • Process employee verification requests.
  • Oversee the employee auto insurance compliance process from initiation to completion.
  • Organize and submit HR check requests for Finance Department processing, including the monthly HR credit card statement.
  • Maintain the homepage of the Agency's Human Resources Information System.
  • Order office supplies for the Human Resources department.
  • Manage the Agency's sympathy gift request process.
  • Oversee the issuance of anniversary certificates for employees.
  • Provide support across all HR functions and assist the Director of HR as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor based on organizational needs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong time management and project coordination skills.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • A valid Michigan driver's license, a clean driving record, and personal auto insurance are mandatory.
  • Must pass Agency-approved background checks.

Recommended Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field is required.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in customer service, administrative, or a related role is required, with HR-specific experience being highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Application Tracking Systems is highly preferred.

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
