Overview

The Lead Construction Inspector is tasked with overseeing the operations of the inspection team and delegating duties to ensure that all inspection activities are executed effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Lead Construction Inspector holds the primary responsibility for the execution of services and the management of the inspection team throughout each project, maintaining direct communication with company representatives.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on service delivery by contractors and inspectors, as well as addressing any inquiries from the company.
  • A comprehensive log of all issues related to safety, quality, compliance, and requests for information must be maintained. The Lead Construction Inspector is responsible for ensuring timely resolution of these issues, with documentation provided in a written log that is reviewed weekly with company personnel.
  • Ensuring that all inspection reports and forms are complete, clear, and thorough is essential. Any issues noted in these reports must be logged for proper follow-up and resolution.
  • The Lead Construction Inspector will ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and submitted to the appropriate personnel or uploaded to the project management system.
  • Ensuring that field construction adheres to the company's specifications, drawings, and contract documents is a critical responsibility.
  • Coordination with various contractors is essential, including the allocation of inspection resources to daily tasks and notifying the company of any resource shortages.
  • Prior to project commissioning, the Lead Construction Inspector must prepare a comprehensive pre-commissioning packet for company approval, which includes all relevant documentation.
  • Visual inspection of all company-supplied materials for damage prior to unloading is required, along with verification of quantities and maintenance of records as directed by the company.
  • Responsible for the receipt, inspection, and documentation of materials.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in coordinating and inspecting construction projects, particularly in natural gas transmission and distribution.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple contractors and inspectors across various disciplines.
  • Proficiency in reading and implementing operational procedures.
  • Competence in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications for practical application in the field.
  • Required operator qualifications as specified in contract documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with urban natural gas pipeline construction projects.
  • Familiarity with interpreting radiographic images of welds and piping.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations including DOT 192, FERC, and OSHA.
  • AWS/CWI Welding Certification.
  • ANST-SNT-TC-1A certifications in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • OSHA Certification.
  • Completion of NACE CIP Level 1 course.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include frequent climbing, lifting, and the ability to maintain balance on various surfaces.
  • Must be able to work in diverse environmental conditions throughout the year.
