Job Overview

The Senior Construction Inspector is a pivotal role, serving as the primary oversight authority on medium-scale civil engineering projects. This position may involve collaboration with support personnel or act as the principal inspection resource for more intricate and expansive undertakings, such as:

Key Duties
  • Assess project timelines, identifying potential conflicts and delays in construction activities.
  • Analyze contractor proposals aimed at resolving scheduling issues.
  • Monitor project progress, collaborating with professional schedulers for complex challenges, while providing technical insights on construction drawings and specifications.
  • Facilitate communication between the resident engineer and construction teams, ensuring clarity in project requirements and documentation.
  • Interpret contract documents for quality assurance and control, evaluating change requests and claims from contractors.
  • Maintain comprehensive logs of issues, proposed changes, and claims, ensuring accurate project documentation and record-keeping.
  • Supervise inspections and coordinate field testing activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Develop and manage project punch lists for both substantial and final completion phases.
  • Ensure quality assurance across all project disciplines, documenting field observations and acting as the liaison between owners and contractors.
  • Review contractor payment requests and assist in coordinating equipment startup operations.
  • Lead a team of inspectors, conducting regular construction meetings and distributing minutes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a construction-related field or completion of a craft apprenticeship.
  • Relevant certifications in concrete, compaction, and civil testing.
  • Inspection certification is highly desirable.
  • Essential Skills: Attention to detail, intermediate knowledge of construction plans, project controls, and effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of 10 years of field experience is required. Candidates must be prepared to fulfill pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks and drug screenings.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk long distances in various environments.
• Requires full range of motion and flexibility.
• May involve working at heights and in confined spaces.

Work Environment:
• Typical construction site conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
