Director Infection Prevention

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Infection Control program. As the Director of Infection Prevention, you will be responsible for overseeing the surveillance program for healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections in our patients and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections system-wide.
  • Provide expert consultation to leadership, medical staff, and medical center personnel to solve infection control-related problems and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and lead ambulatory strategy in conjunction with inpatient infection control program that supports recommendations from the CDC in these settings.
  • Demonstrate expert competency in the domains of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) model for Infection Preventionists (IP).

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Infection Prevention leadership experience in a multi-facility health system, including familiarity with NHSN reporting rules.
  • Experience with acute care, ambulatory care, and other relevant settings.
  • Familiarity with NHSN reporting rules.
  • Position requires analytic abilities to apply and use surveillance data, generate reports using statistical methods and tools, and effectively use data to identify problem areas and formulate recommendations for improvement.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, nurses, and a variety of medical center personnel, and to provide formal instruction.
  • Director or other senior leader experience preferred.
  • Experience performing surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, including experience with the use of infection control software and/or databases, preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, clinical laboratory science, public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • CIC: Certification in Infection Control through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
  • RN: Registered Nurse licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing license, preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Epidemiology/Public Health/Patient Safety or related field, preferred.
