Job Title: Registered Nurse - Infection Control Specialist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as an Infection Control Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where you will play a critical role in preventing and controlling infections in our patients.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Infectious Diseases Clinic. This will include:

  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide evidence-based care to patients and families
  • Outreach and triage of patients, communicating with the Infectious Diseases clinic by telephone or Patient Gateway message
  • Documenting the coordination of clinical care, including medication questions, lab results, patient education, and nurse-driven protocols
  • Administering medication and vaccines as needed during provider clinic sessions and for patients who have nurse visit appointments or walk-in
  • Conducting nurse visits for practice patients who present for infectious disease-related care
  • Interpreting and evaluating lab results to assess patients' clinical response to therapy and overall health care needs
  • Case management of patients with HIV and those receiving injectable ART
  • Case management of patients in the OPAT program to ensure safe administration of antibiotics and problem-solving issues with IV access
  • Participating in departmental and organizational quality management and/or quality improvement projects
  • Demonstrating proficient use of the electronic medical record
  • Performing technical skills, including PICC line management and dressing change, blood draw from PICC line, vaccine and IM injections, wound dressing changes, and assistance with procedures as requested
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
  • BSN required for newly licensed nurses
  • Minimum of one year of recent clinical nursing experience in a primary care or public health sexually transmitted disease practice
  • Minimum of one year of patient care coordination experience
  • Minimum of one year of patient telephone triage experience, including telephone-based clinical assessment techniques for an ambulatory outpatient setting
Preferred Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Team-based care experience
  • Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records
  • Ambulatory Infectious Disease, HIV/AIDS experience strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking skills
  • Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in Ambulatory Care or ambulatory specialty area is preferred
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shift rotations per the MNA contract
