Director of BSA/AML

Suffolk Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) efforts. As the Director of BSA/AML, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our BSA/AML compliance program, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, and managing a team of AML professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain BSA/AML compliance programs for Suffolk Credit Union.
  • Proactively manage and prevent fraud across all products and channels.
  • Liaise with law enforcement on criminal cases.
  • Identify BSA/AML/OFAC compliance risks and ensure the development of procedures to mitigate them.
  • Implement and enhance BSA and OFAC policies, procedures, and legal reporting requirements.
  • Manage BSA/AML/OFAC monitoring systems to identify suspicious or fraudulent activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee daily AML staff operations and provide coaching/training as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on escalated AML and BSA/OFAC issues.
  • Maintain a robust SAR investigation, review, and reporting process.
  • Conduct BSA/AML/OFAC risk assessments and liaise with NCUA examiners, auditors, and vendors.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Eight (8)+ years of previous BSA and AML experience at a retail financial institution.
  • ACAMS certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations impacting credit unions.
  • Proficient in risk analysis techniques, regulatory environments, and fraud prevention trends within the financial industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial industry operations, credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Expertise in facility and information security techniques.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis using spreadsheet software.
  • Proven ability to meet multiple complex deadlines, articulate ideas effectively, and handle confidential information with tact.
