Position Overview

The role of the Clinical Research Scientist is pivotal in our expanding clinical affairs team in the Heart Failure sector. This position is responsible for drafting scientific documentation related to the design, execution, and analysis of clinical trials specifically targeting heart failure, with an emphasis on mechanical circulatory support and hemodynamic monitoring. The Clinical Research Scientist will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary clinical study team, including project management, medical affairs, biostatistics, data management, and clinical study personnel, while also engaging directly with physician leaders and study investigators. This role will involve significant interaction with healthcare professionals and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scientific materials necessary for clinical trial design and execution, including clinical trial protocols, case report forms, informed consent documents, prior investigation reports, and investigator brochures.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications of clinical study findings in collaboration with investigator authors and project management.
  • Create presentations to share clinical data at prominent international conferences.
  • Work in close partnership with statistics, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs teams to meet business objectives as defined by marketing and reimbursement strategies.
  • Review literature across various products and therapies within the designated therapeutic area.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including physician investigators and key opinion leaders, effectively representing Abbott as a scientific authority in the relevant therapy.
  • Prepare documentation to support regulatory submissions for Abbott products and address inquiries from regulatory agencies regarding existing submissions.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a PhD in biomedical engineering, biological sciences, biostatistics, or a related discipline.

  • Preferred experience includes knowledge of mechanical circulatory support technologies, heart failure pathophysiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular hemodynamics, or heart failure medicine.
  • Experience in data analytics is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to independently solve complex problems.
  • Capability to work effectively both in a team environment and as an individual contributor in a dynamic setting.
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Highly organized and self-driven, with the ability to initiate and complete tasks efficiently.
