Position Overview

The role of the Scientific Communications Manager presents an exceptional opportunity for the right individual to become a vital part of our expanding clinical affairs team within Abbott Heart Failure. This position is pivotal in effectively conveying and proactively leading the dissemination of evidence generation initiatives from the clinical affairs department. Responsibilities include the development and execution of podium and publication strategies in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Programs and various cross-functional partners, alongside contributions to scientific and clinical materials such as publications, presentations, and internal documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage proactively with cross-functional teams to design and implement the departmental podium and publication strategy.
  • Oversee the creation of enhanced work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize clinical evidence dissemination.
  • Develop and manage multiple digital platforms to monitor and communicate the progress of clinical studies.
  • Aggregate and share literature across various products and therapies within the designated therapeutic area.
  • Collaborate closely with external stakeholders, including physician investigators and key opinion leaders, on projects related to clinical and scientific evidence generation.
  • Contribute as an author to presentations, publications, and regulatory submissions through coordination with clinical science, investigator authors, and project management.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in biomedical engineering, biological sciences, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in a relevant field may be considered with additional experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry in a similar capacity.
  • Familiarity with medical conference organization from an industry perspective is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of cardiovascular physiology is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in communication and organizational tools such as PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve problems.
  • Capacity to function effectively both as part of a team and as an individual contributor in a dynamic environment.
  • Exemplary organizational skills and self-motivation, with a strong ability to initiate and complete tasks.
