About the Role

Abbott Laboratories, a global healthcare leader, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Product Analysis Laboratory team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our biomedical implant products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform failure analysis on explanted long-term biomedical implant products to identify root causes and develop investigative protocols.
  • Provide technical expertise to the Product Analysis Laboratory and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Surveillance.
  • Develop and implement quality improvements related to failure analysis and serve as a mentor to less experienced lab staff.
  • Support all company initiatives, including Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and maintain positive and cooperative communications with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in performing failure analysis, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Relevant professional certification or designation, and academic or in-house courses in project management, Six-Sigma, leadership, Total Quality Management (TQM), and technical applications.
  • Comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects and converse effectively with all levels of employees.
