Nurse Practitioner

South Peninsula Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery team. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse in this position will be responsible for providing direct patient care to patients on the obstetrics and labor & delivery unit, including assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care to patients on the obstetrics and labor & delivery unit, including assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska.
- 1 year of experience in obstetrics and labor & delivery nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Stable and PALS certification.
This position requires walking, standing for extended periods, stooping, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, muscle strains, falls, and needle stick injuries. A mechanical lift is available for lifting patients when needed. Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed inside. Working hours may fluctuate based on scheduling needs and patient census.
