Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Retail Operations Supervisor Trainee. Ideal candidates are those with a background in supermarket management who are passionate about customer engagement and driving sales performance.

In this role, you will oversee the daily operations and growth of your assigned store, focusing on customer satisfaction, staff training and development, labor management, inventory oversight, asset protection, and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, execute, and assess weekly sales initiatives
  • Manage and monitor store payroll and budget, working collaboratively with management to achieve sales, profit, payroll, and productivity objectives; maintain accurate payroll records
  • Ensure adherence to Giant's policies and local, state, and federal regulations regarding food, labor, and safety
  • Lead the operational team, including department managers and associates
  • Provide training opportunities for part-time associates and identify potential leaders within the team
  • Conduct store assessments to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Collaborate with store management on all facets of store operations, including customer service, associate development, and sales goals
  • Foster a positive shopping experience for customers and ensure their satisfaction
  • Maintain store appearance and safety standards in accordance with Giant Food's regulations
  • Address customer inquiries regarding products and provide suitable recommendations
  • Ensure the accuracy of store signage
  • Uphold Giant's customer service principles:
    • Greet every customer warmly
    • Maintain a professional appearance with a clean uniform and name badge
    • Provide focused attention to customers
    • Handle product packaging with care
    • Respond promptly to long lines
    • Address customer concerns effectively
As a Customer Service Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing daily operations of the Customer Service department and managing staff development
  • Tracking associate attendance and ensuring compliance with labor laws
  • Engaging with store associates to achieve company objectives
  • Training and mentoring Front End and Assistant Front End Managers
  • Supervising store operations in the absence of the Store Manager
  • Reviewing and approving front end schedules
  • Managing community relations initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager in a recognized grocery or retail company
  • Proven ability to manage teams and departments effectively
  • Strong skills in scheduling, inventory management, payroll, and financial analysis
  • Knowledge of employment regulations and retail hiring practices
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant business field
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience in community engagement programs
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed
