Role Overview: The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a designated group of patients. This role involves leading nursing team members in patient care as directed by the attending physician and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, adhering to the philosophy and policies of ProMedica Acute Care Hospitals. The RN actively contributes to creating an environment that promotes satisfaction for patients, families, physicians, and staff. Decisions made should be rooted in a patient and family-centered care philosophy, utilizing evidence-based practices focused on safety, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.

Scope of Service: The Registered Nurse provides care to individuals and groups requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, spiritual/cultural, and nursing sciences. The RN operates within the full scope of nursing practice as defined by the Board of Nursing in their designated state, ensuring compliance with all hospital accrediting bodies.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current State license as a Registered Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Specialty certifications as required
  • BSN preferred
  • Completion of twenty-four contact hours of continuing education during the licensure period, including at least 1 hour related to Chapter 4723 of the Ohio nurse practice code and rules.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Knowledge and use of standard precautions and PPE, as well as safe patient handling equipment.

Physical Demands: Must be able to tolerate exposure to various environmental factors, including dust, fumes, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens. Ability to meet all health requirements as identified by the organization is essential. The role requires mobility throughout the hospital, including prolonged periods of standing, frequent lifting or carrying of patients or equipment, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
