Position Overview

The successful candidate will possess a strong background in legal research, drafting legal documents, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court, particularly in the fields of Housing/Landlord-tenant, Family Law, Public Benefits, and Veteran Benefits. While experience with veterans' issues is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal assessments and perform client intakes.
  • Represent clients in various legal matters, ensuring their rights are upheld.
  • Manage case files effectively while maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Mentor pro bono attorneys and provide guidance on family law and veteran-related issues.
  • Engage in educational outreach to inform both private and public sectors about military and veteran legal matters.

Essential Qualifications

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar is required.
  • Experience working with low-income individuals, veterans, or marginalized communities is preferred.
  • A strong awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations served is essential.
  • Ability to manage a substantial caseload in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team, including attorneys, support staff, and community partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Multilingual abilities are considered a plus.
  • A willingness to occasionally work beyond standard hours, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $68,000, commensurate with experience. Exceptional candidates may receive a higher salary based on their qualifications. The organization provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and life insurance for employees, retirement plans, 13 paid holidays, and generous leave policies, starting with 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave annually, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
