Teaching Artist Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Arts Education Facilitator to join our team at the New York City Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Work-Based Learning student programs in the arts, grades 9-12, in locations across the city.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with colleagues and professional teaching artists to plan and implement Work-Based Learning programs in the arts, grades 9-12, in locations across the city.
- Participate in the writing, design, review and selection of program curricula and materials, assessments and resources with the understanding that the Arts Office must approve all program design.
- Facilitate student workshops and attend all scheduled planning and debrief meetings.
- Review participant feedback to improve future workshops and communicate with the Arts Office to provide ongoing targeted support to students and partners.
- New York City Department of Education licensed teacher of dance, music, film/media, theater, and/or visual arts, grades K-12, middle or high school preferred.
- Minimum of three years satisfactory teaching experience in the arts, grades Pre-K—12.
- Experience teaching and directing arts students and familiarity with the current implementation of the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, Advance and the Danielson Framework for Teaching, and the Common Core Learning Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and plan with co-facilitators and directly teach student participants with poise, tact, patience, and courtesy to foster a collegial and creative learning environment.
The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday, after-school hours, days to be determined, with up to 50 total hours per position. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SalaryPer Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
