92nd Street Y's Art Center offers a wide range of afterschool and weekend visual art classes for children and teens. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced Teaching Artists to provide a supportive and creative learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with lead Teaching Artists to deliver high-quality art classes.
- Support students and foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist with student drop-off and pick-up, supply distribution, and classroom setup and cleanup.
- Develop and lead a lesson with a mentor Teaching Artist, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in visual arts education or a related field.
- Experience working with children in a creative classroom setting.
- Ability to commit to the full semester, attending every scheduled class and finding substitutes for missed classes.
- Class assignments typically take place on weekday afternoons and weekends, with a 15-minute arrival and departure requirement.
Per Diem Compensation: $21/hour
