Our diverse arts education programs encompass theatre, dance, visual arts, music, cultural heritage, and educational initiatives addressing social issues. Sundog is pioneering a literacy-focused arts integration project in elementary schools, aiming to serve as a model for other institutions interested in utilizing the arts to boost literacy and engage students in a more interactive learning environment. With backing from educational authorities and community stakeholders, our initiative is set to lead the way in arts education in the region.

Position Overview:

The Arts Education Assistant Manager is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in supporting our arts programs within local schools. Reporting directly to the Arts Education Manager, the selected candidate will cultivate strong relationships with educational institutions to ensure our offerings meet their specific needs.

The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, creativity, and a genuine interest in arts education, along with a passion for engaging youth through artistic endeavors. They should be well-versed in Sundog's programs and the broader arts education landscape, capable of collaborating with schools to enhance student experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with schools and community organizations to customize programs that align with their goals.
  • Maintain consistent communication with schools and teaching artists regarding program delivery.
  • Identify suitable matches between teaching artists and educational institutions.
  • Organize schedules for teaching artists and school programs while keeping accurate records.
  • Participate in in-school programs and oversee evaluations.
  • Assist in the implementation of existing and new arts curricula.
  • Seek out new teaching artists and educational partnerships.
  • Represent Sundog at arts education workshops and meetings.
  • Manage supply orders and deliveries to schools as necessary.

  • Confidence and decisiveness, with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating diplomacy and integrity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an open mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in follow-up tasks.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with the NYC Department of Education is advantageous.
  • A sense of humor and proficiency with digital tools such as email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Requirements:

Applicants should be familiar with the Staten Island area and possess a valid driver's license.

Compensation: $52,000 per year

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
