Job Summary

As the Plant Manager at Fortis Solutions Group, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations of our facility. This includes direct responsibility for scheduling, production, maintenance, and warehouse functions. You will also have indirect oversight of prepress, customer relations, and quality functions. In this role, you will work with each functional area to achieve key performance metrics for safety, quality, customer satisfaction, productivity, and profitability. This includes developing and implementing continuous improvement activities to assist the site in achieving or exceeding those goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality product is produced in a safe, consistent, and timely manner to exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead the management team in creating, implementing, and monitoring manufacturing plans, goals, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and implement training and development initiatives for direct reports.
  • Manage and develop direct reports, including performance management metrics and disciplinary action.
  • Retrieve and compile data regularly on the facility's performance, analyzing it to direct and inform continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicate data, findings, and initiatives of the company in regularly scheduled plant meetings.
  • Lead the development of annual capital plans, providing justification or ROI for the facility.
  • Work with directors to have indirect oversight of customer relations, prepress, quality, and purchasing departments.
  • Utilize the company's ERP system to extract and analyze relevant data to drive improvement of operational metrics.
  • Provide management team information by compiling, sorting, and analyzing production and performance data.
  • Incorporate lean principles to evaluate, implement, and continuously improve production processes and procedures.
  • Manage capital projects, including equipment installs and relocations.
  • Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins.
  • Analyze profitability by account and product line, making recommendations for improvements and implementing them.
  • Ensure manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, productivity, efficiency, and responsiveness.
  • Participate in cross-plant initiatives to ensure transfer of best practices across all sites.
  • Play an active role in senior-level negotiations with vendors.
  • Evaluate and develop new techniques and equipment.
  • Foster an open-door environment and solutions-based team approach within and between all departments and shifts.

Requirements
  • College degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related discipline preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a mid- or large-size flexographic print manufacturer is required.
  • At least 5 of those years should be in a management position within the company.
  • Proven record of leading manufacturing teams to meet or exceed company goals.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience is preferred.
