Job Summary and Qualifications

The Vascular Technician performs high-quality non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations following protocols established by the Medical Director of the vascular lab and demonstrates exemplary customer service to all patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Maintaining departmental compliance logs.
  • Participating in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Obtaining quality diagnostic images in accordance with protocol
  • Exam orders: ensuring all orders contain the required five elements
  • PACS: Scanning and labeling documents appropriately, resolving QA issues promptly, ensuring images are released to radiologists in a timely manner.
  • RIS: ensuring orders are valid and entered correctly, confirming the ordering physician is accurate, completing exams with precise information, documenting pertinent details.
  • Participating in departmental accreditation processes and quality assurance.
  • Transporting patients as necessary.
  • Preparing and distributing preliminary reports as indicated by vascular lab protocol

Required qualifications include:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Vocational School Graduate
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Vascular Technician (RVT)
  • B.S. Degree in an appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Preferably two years of experience in an acute care hospital setting performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures.
