Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Vascular Technician is responsible for conducting high-quality non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations following protocols established by the Medical Director of the vascular lab while providing exemplary customer service to patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain departmental compliance logs.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Capture quality diagnostic images in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensure all exam orders contain the necessary five elements.
  • Manage PACS by scanning and labeling documents accurately, resolving QA issues promptly, and ensuring timely release of images to radiologists.
  • Oversee RIS to confirm orders are valid and entered correctly, ensuring accurate documentation of exams and pertinent information.
  • Participate in departmental accreditation and quality assurance processes.
  • Assist in patient transport as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute preliminary reports as per vascular lab protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Graduate from a vocational school.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Preferred experience of two years in an acute care hospital setting performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures.
