Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Shop Inspector I to join our team at Thorlabs. As a key member of our Mechanics group, you will be responsible for upholding the high-quality standards of our supply chain.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-precision mechanical components and utilize your knowledge and creative skills to perform inspections and ensure compliance with manufacturing and ISO9001 quality standards.

About the Role

  • You will inspect the quality and accuracy of components produced on internal CNC machinery and manual equipment.
  • Utilize metrology equipment and handheld inspection tools to measure highly toleranced components.
  • Perform and document accurate, efficient, and thorough dimensional and visual inspections.
  • Segregate and clearly mark non-conforming material and ensure components are handled carefully.
  • Maintain calibrated and well-maintained equipment and a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
  • High School or Trade School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to learn to interpret mechanical blueprint specifications and use handheld inspection tools.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good eye-hand coordination.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
