Position Title: Culinary Production Associate

Department: Dining Services

Overview:

Our culinary operations include a butcher shop, bakeshop, and an organic garden, all contributing to the fresh offerings in our dining halls and retail locations.

Role Summary:

Under the guidance of the Head Chef and other culinary leaders, the Culinary Production Associate will be entrusted with various responsibilities, including:

  • Preparing and serving diverse food items within the dining facilities.
  • Collaborating effectively in both independent and team-oriented environments, particularly in the cold food production sector.
  • Assisting in the setup, service, and breakdown of food serving lines.
  • Adhering to proper food handling and storage protocols.
  • Monitoring and documenting temperature readings for refrigeration units.
  • Complying with safety and sanitation standards, including necessary documentation.
  • Providing leadership and support to achieve the objectives of the cold food production area, which may involve operating computerized systems and managing cash transactions.
  • Occasionally covering the checking station by welcoming dining patrons and verifying identification for meal participation.

Compensation and Benefits:

The starting hourly wage for this position is $18.65, with compensation adjusted based on skills and experience. New hires in Dining Services will receive a sign-on bonus, contingent upon meeting eligibility criteria. Additional benefits include:

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in institutional food service.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced food preparation environment.

Preferred:

  • Culinary coursework or certification.
  • ServSafe Certification (training provided within the first six months).
  • A valid driver's license, meeting the college's motor vehicle policy requirements.
  • Prior experience with food preparation techniques in institutional settings.

Work Schedule:

This full-time position operates on a schedule that includes evenings and weekends, with occasional overtime during major college events and emergencies. The role is structured for an academic year, with specific breaks during winter, spring, and summer.
