Overview:

Bowdoin College, located in Brunswick, Maine, is renowned for its exceptional dining services, consistently ranked among the top colleges for culinary excellence. Our facilities include a butcher shop, bakeshop, and an organic garden, all contributing to the fresh offerings at our dining halls and retail locations. This role is integral to our SuperSnack operation, a favored late-night dining service for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cold food items, set up the servery, and ensure timely replenishment of food offerings.
  • Perform sanitation tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors, maintaining cleanliness in the dish room, and sanitizing kitchen equipment and dining areas.
  • Utilize a computerized system to manage access to dining facilities.
  • Welcome patrons and verify student identification for meal eligibility.
  • Monitor and confirm meal counts.
  • Provide support in both front and back of house operations as needed.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour plus shift differential.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of recycling and sustainability practices.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Capable of following both written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to personal hygiene standards.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated reliability in previous roles.
  • Some relevant experience in food service is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position, requiring less than 20 hours per week, specifically during the SuperSnack shift, which is a popular late-night service for students. Employees in this role will receive a shift differential.
