Overview:

Bowdoin College, situated in Brunswick, Maine, is renowned for its exceptional dining experience, consistently ranked among the top 10 for college dining. Our facilities include a butcher shop, bakeshop, and an organic garden that supply fresh ingredients to our dining halls and retail locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cold food items and maintain the servery area.
  • Perform sanitation tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning kitchen equipment and dining areas.
  • Utilize a computerized system to manage dining hall access.
  • Welcome patrons and verify their identification and meal eligibility.
  • Monitor and confirm meal counts.
  • Provide support in both front and back of house operations as needed.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of recycling and sustainability practices.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Exhibit good personal hygiene practices.

Experience:

Required:

  • No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated reliability in previous roles.
  • Some relevant experience in food service.

Work Schedule:

Flexible shifts available in the morning, afternoon, and evening, accommodating various availability. This is a part-time position, working less than 20 hours per week.
