We are thrilled to announce a remarkable opportunity for a dedicated and skilled professional to join the Advancing Traditional Owner Rights Branch as a Senior Officer for Traditional Owner Engagement. This role is pivotal in advancing critical initiatives surrounding truth, treaty, self-determination, and cultural rights.

The Advancing Traditional Owner Rights Branch is responsible for spearheading policy development related to redress and self-determination, ensuring that the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010 (Vic) aligns with forthcoming Interim Treaty offers. Additionally, the branch undertakes comprehensive policy work on statewide government programs and reforms that affect Traditional Owners.

As the Senior Officer for Traditional Owner Engagement, you will establish and nurture strong, productive relationships with formally recognized Traditional Owner Corporations, serving as the primary liaison for policy, operational, and funding inquiries. Your role will also involve collaboration with various departments and regional entities to manage engagement challenges faced by Traditional Owner Corporations, ensuring alignment with their rights, interests, and treaty objectives.

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, demonstrating sound judgment and the capacity to make informed decisions that consider diverse interests.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines in high-pressure situations.
  • Robust project management, planning, and organizational skills.

A valid Victorian Driver's License is a mandatory requirement for this position.

The work location for this role is flexible within Victoria, with options for hybrid work arrangements.
