Key Responsibilities

We are in need of a skilled Power Converter/Analog Design Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects. In this vital role, you will have the chance to design, develop, and evaluate analog and DC/DC power converter circuits for various applications, including commercial, military, and aerospace products.

Your responsibilities will involve designing for extreme conditions typical of military and space environments. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of electrical, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and testing engineers to ensure effective product development and seamless transition to production.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in analog and power converter design, including both switching and linear technologies.
  • Expertise in utilizing SPICE-based tools or similar circuit analysis software (e.g., PSPICE, LTSPICE, HSPICE, SIMPLIS), schematic capture tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics Expedition, ORCAD Capture), and board layout software (e.g., Mentor Graphics Expedition, Zuken).
  • Familiarity with testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, frequency response analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting engineering design concepts and data for peer and internal/external design evaluations.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics.
  • Possession of an active Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with military applications across land, sea, and air, as well as familiarity with military standards.
  • Knowledge of AC to DC power conversion techniques, including power factor considerations and multi-phase power systems.
  • Experience in power system architecture, specifications, and trade studies for multi-kilowatt power systems.
  • Background in collaborating with systems, digital, and RF/Microwave design engineering teams.
  • Experience in supporting peer design reviews and conducting design verification testing of engineering units while overseeing the design process through production.
  • Experience working with subcontractors.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $278,100 annually. At Viasat, we consider various factors when determining compensation, including the role's scope and your individual background and experience. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be part of the compensation package, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits tailored to the position.
