Mobile Therapist

Metro Community Health Center is seeking a committed Mobile Therapist to enhance our Mobile Mental Health Program. The selected individual will provide therapeutic services and treatment to a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, and adults, while diagnosing mental health conditions and delivering care in underserved areas. Our mission is to improve healthcare accessibility across various neighborhoods, focusing on populations such as the uninsured, homeless, low-income individuals, those battling substance use disorders, disabled persons, at-risk youth, veterans, isolated seniors, members of the LGBTQA+ community, sex workers, and others requiring mental health assistance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct screenings, assessments, and psychotherapy for individuals facing common mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools to formulate suitable treatment recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clients to create strength-based, individualized treatment plans, employing evidence-based methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving, and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in achieving their therapeutic objectives.
  • Provide crisis intervention and referrals for clients in acute distress or experiencing psychiatric emergencies.
  • Work alongside Mental Health Case Managers to ensure effective care coordination, resource navigation, and access to necessary services for mental health treatment.
  • Engage in regular case consultations with the assigned clinical supervisor.
  • Maintain precise and current clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Utilize available tools to monitor patient care and treatment outcomes as required.
  • Stay informed on best practices in mental health treatment by participating in relevant training and workshops.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, ensuring client confidentiality and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Support the 988-crisis system by assisting in stabilizing community members, minimizing Emergency Department visits, and improving overall community mental health.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensed in Pennsylvania as a therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.).
  • Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Experience in providing evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy and psychiatric services to diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and success in managing challenging patient situations.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Able to establish rapport with clients, showing empathy and maintaining a nonjudgmental approach.
  • Proficient in using technology platforms for documentation and communication.

ABILITIES:

  • Flexible scheduling to meet client needs, including some evening and weekend availability.
  • Willingness to travel to various neighborhoods for service delivery.
  • Comfortable working in a mobile van setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This role requires the ability to sit, manipulate objects, reach, and communicate effectively. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is typically quiet.
