Community Mobile Therapist

Metro Community Health Center is seeking a committed Mobile Therapist to be part of our Mobile Mental Health Program. The selected individual will provide therapeutic services and treatment to children, adolescents, and adults, assess mental health conditions, and deliver care in underserved areas throughout Pittsburgh. Our mission is to improve healthcare access across diverse neighborhoods and populations, including those who are uninsured, homeless, economically disadvantaged, struggling with substance abuse, disabled, at-risk youth, veterans, isolated seniors, members of the LGBTQA+ community, sex workers, and others in need of mental health support who face barriers to traditional care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct screenings, assessments, and psychotherapy for individuals of all ages facing common mental health and substance use challenges.
- Utilize standardized assessment tools to inform treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients to create strength-based, individualized treatment plans, employing evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving, and Motivational Interviewing to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals for clients in acute distress or facing psychiatric emergencies.
- Work alongside Mental Health Case Managers to ensure care coordination, resource navigation, and access to necessary services for effective mental health treatment.
- Engage in regular case consultations with a designated clinical supervisor.
- Maintain precise and current clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans.
- Utilize provided tools to monitor patient care and treatment outcomes as required.
- Stay informed on best practices in mental health treatment through participation in relevant training and workshops.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, ensuring client confidentiality and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Support the 988-crisis system by assisting in stabilizing community members, reducing Emergency Department visits, and enhancing overall community mental health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid Pennsylvania State license as a therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.).
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Experience delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy and psychiatric services to diverse populations using various methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and success in managing challenging patient situations.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Ability to build rapport with clients, demonstrate empathy, and maintain a nonjudgmental approach.
- Proficient in using technology platforms for documentation and communication.
SKILLS:
- Flexible scheduling to meet client needs, including some evening and weekend availability.
- Willingness to travel to various neighborhoods.
- Ability to work in a mobile van setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the employee to frequently sit, use hands for manipulation, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is typically quiet.
