Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian II plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. This position requires a strong understanding of the Nutrition Care Process and the ability to apply it effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide integrated and compatible patient care.
  • Apply the Nutrition Care Process to determine the nutrition diagnosis, develop and implement nutrition interventions, and monitor and evaluate patient progress.
  • Use the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework to determine scope of practice and adhere to established Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.
  • Function independently at the competent to proficient level on pediatric and obstetric units/clinics, including complex patient types.
  • Serve as a role model, resource, and leader for junior dietitians.
Essential Functions
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to achieve patient care goals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, public, hospital/clinic staff, and physicians.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain expertise in nutrition care.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and outcome-based research projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education and Dietetics.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience.
  • Valid credential as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN) issued by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply it effectively.
  • Excellent counseling skills and ability to relate to a multi-ethnic community and varied learning levels.
  • Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units and/or outpatient clinics.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships with multidisciplinary team members.
