KSI is seeking a skilled Lead Cost Accountant and Financial Analyst to enhance our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and executing month-end closing procedures. This position requires a strong analytical mindset combined with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles to evaluate financial reports and forecasts.

This is a newly created role that will integrate into a team of six finance and accounting professionals, supporting a diverse family of companies across various sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a CPA certification and have a minimum of three years of experience in public accounting. Proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and a solid grasp of GAAP accounting standards, forecasting, and financial modeling is essential. Experience in teamwork and collaboration is also highly valued.

Key Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts across different company divisions.
  • Generate accurate accounting reports.
  • Analyze financial data and summarize the financial position.
  • Identify discrepancies and propose strategies for enhancing efficiency and cost management.
  • Prepare financial statements and develop budgets in accordance with timelines.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP standards.
  • Maintain accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
  • Learn and support the responsibilities of other team members, including payroll functions as needed.

Key Financial Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Examine current and historical financial data and performance metrics.
  • Prepare analytical reports and forecasts based on findings.
  • Investigate potential investment opportunities.
  • Evaluate various business costs and their impact on operations, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on cost accounting data, including standard cost reports, inventory levels, and product costing analyses.
  • Identify trends in financial performance and recommend improvements.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts.
  • Organize data into accessible reports and conduct various analyses using key performance indicators.
  • Support financial functions such as auditing, planning, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Assess and analyze capital expenditures, depreciation, proposals, and investment opportunities.
  • Review financial data to provide insights for guiding business investments and overall financial strategy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the accounting field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental accounting procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Awareness of current business trends.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in a public accounting firm.
