Job Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the activities of personnel responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and machinery. This position is tasked with coordinating efforts with subcontractors and equipment suppliers to ensure that operational efficiency and quality benchmarks are consistently achieved. The supervisor is accountable for the management of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and associated systems, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership (35%)

  • Comprehends the roles and responsibilities of each team member under the Maintenance Supervisor's purview and manages them comprehensively, including aspects such as hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Effectively oversees staff and processes to ensure that all assigned duties are fulfilled and that the needs of both internal and external customers are met promptly.
  • Ensures that departmental systems (e.g., JDE, ADP, SolidWorks) meet or surpass the requirements of all company personnel.
  • Develops, executes, and tracks progress towards both short-term and long-term objectives for all assigned staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exhibits confidence in navigating challenging situations and advancing innovative ideas.

Critical Functions (25%)

  • Creates and implements strategies, processes, and procedures aimed at eliminating issues and enhancing safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Plans and directs maintenance operations while establishing priorities to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Responsible for a predictive and preventative maintenance framework utilizing various tools, including tracking software and expert knowledge.
  • Provides overall guidance and leadership in maintaining the facility.

Dependability (15%)

  • Exhibits a strong attendance record, recognizing the impact of absences on customers and colleagues.
  • Completes tasks and projects on or ahead of schedule.
  • Responds positively to work assignments and requests, demonstrating cooperation and availability.
  • Follows through on commitments and is accessible as a resource for team members.

Productivity and Knowledge (15%)

  • Collaborates with management to establish budgets and cost controls for efficient resource allocation.
  • Keeps detailed records of maintenance activities, including installations, repairs, equipment, parts, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Proactively addresses and mitigates constraints in real-time using all available resources.
  • Selects, coordinates, and oversees all subcontractors engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • Manages the installation, upkeep, and repair of the facility and its assets.

  • Adheres to safety protocols, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and holding others accountable.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High School diploma or GED is required; additional coursework in business or technical fields is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is essential.
  • Strong knowledge in maintenance-related disciplines such as pipefitting, electrical systems, HVAC, grounds maintenance, security, and fire safety.
  • Experience in providing comprehensive maintenance services for entire facilities.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate industrial lift equipment and perform welding tasks.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety programs and OSHA regulations is required.
