Job Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of facilities, grounds, and machinery. This position involves collaborating with subcontractors and equipment suppliers to ensure that operational efficiency and quality benchmarks are consistently achieved. The supervisor is accountable for the maintenance of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and associated systems, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership (35%)

  • Comprehends the roles and responsibilities of each team member under the Maintenance Supervisor's guidance, managing all employment aspects including hiring, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination.
  • Effectively oversees personnel and processes to ensure all assigned duties are fulfilled and that the needs of both internal and external clients are addressed promptly.
  • Ensures that departmental systems (e.g., JDE, ADP, SolidWorks) meet or surpass the requirements of all company personnel.
  • Establishes, executes, and tracks the progress of both short-term and long-term objectives for all team members.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exhibits confidence in navigating challenging situations and discussions while promoting innovative ideas.

Critical Functions (25%)

  • Designs and implements strategies, processes, and protocols aimed at eliminating issues and enhancing safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Plans and oversees maintenance operations, setting priorities to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Responsible for a predictive and preventative maintenance system utilizing various resources, including tracking software and expert knowledge.
  • Provides comprehensive leadership in maintaining the facility's operational integrity.

Dependability (15%)

  • Demonstrates excellent attendance, understanding the impact of absences on both clients and colleagues.
  • Completes projects and objectives on or ahead of schedule.
  • Responds positively to work assignments and requests, remaining cooperative and accessible.
  • Follows through on commitments and is available as a resource for peers and subordinates.

Productivity and Knowledge (15%)

  • Collaborates with management to formulate budgets and cost control measures to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Keeps detailed records of maintenance activities, including installations, repairs, equipment, parts, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Proactively addresses and mitigates constraints in real-time using all available tools.
  • Selects, coordinates, and manages all subcontractors engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • Oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of all facility assets.

Safety (10%)

  • Adheres to safety protocols, policies, and all SAFESTART principles, taking action when others fail to uphold accountability.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High School diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge in maintenance areas such as pipefitting, electrical systems, HVAC, grounds maintenance, security, and fire safety.
  • Experience in providing comprehensive maintenance services for entire facilities.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate industrial lift equipment and perform welding tasks.
  • Proficient in Windows and MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of safety programs and OSHA regulations is essential.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements

The physical demands of this role include standing for extended periods, lifting and moving heavy objects, and performing various physical tasks. The work environment may involve exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and hazardous materials, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment.
