Role Summary

The Fraud Analyst plays a critical role in developing and implementing fraud prevention strategies, including monitoring, analysis, investigations, and reporting. As an integral member of the Financial Crimes team, the Fraud Analyst serves as the bank-wide authority on fraud detection and prevention, assisting with AML | CFT (BSA) monitoring, and providing support to the Partner Banking Division as needed. The Fraud Analyst will engage with customers to thoroughly investigate fraud incidents and report suspicious activities in compliance with federal regulations and bank policies. This role involves leading the enhancement of systems and operational processes, policies, and procedures aimed at fraud detection and prevention, while also promoting education and awareness among bank employees and clients. The ideal candidate will possess innovative thinking skills, a strong understanding of financial crime prevention, and knowledge of emerging threats within the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with various teams, including operations, technology, finance, and risk, to ensure comprehensive fraud prevention measures are in place.
  2. Work with business lines to analyze fraud incidents, identify improved detection methods, and assess system capabilities for optimal fraud prevention.
  3. Monitor transaction activities and review alerts and reports from various fraud and AML | CFT (BSA) systems to identify and mitigate fraud across multiple products and services.
  4. Conduct investigations into fraud and suspicious activities, contacting customers as necessary to complete inquiries and generate suspicious activity reports (SAR) when warranted.
  5. Address escalations from other business lines regarding potential fraud activities, such as disputes and chargebacks.
  6. Report fraud incidents and respond promptly according to established Incident Response Procedures.
  7. Assist with fraud-related risk assessments and perform quality assurance on system inputs and investigations.
  8. Advise business lines on fraud matters and develop training programs for bank employees while coordinating customer education on fraud awareness.
  9. Participate in projects aimed at implementing process improvements and software solutions for fraud prevention.
  10. Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to identify and quantify emerging fraud patterns, providing insights to relevant business lines.
  11. Develop and execute strategies to detect and prevent fraudulent activities across all platforms, enhancing existing processes based on data and trends.
  12. Measure and communicate various fraudulent patterns periodically to stakeholders.
  13. Gather and analyze financial data to identify potential fraud risks.
  14. Compile data and generate periodic reports for management and stakeholders.
  15. Act as a subject matter expert on emerging fraud trends, offering recommendations for mitigation.
  16. Serve on the BSA/Risk Fraud Committee as a Fraud Subject Matter Expert.
  17. Conduct annual or more frequent fraud risk assessments to inform recommendations and program enhancements.
  18. Regular attendance is essential.
  19. Other duties as assigned may be required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in a related field with prior experience in banking or fintech.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fraud, risk, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in customer interaction is beneficial.
