About the Role

As a pivotal banking relationship manager, you will oversee a portfolio of middle market clients, ensuring their financial needs are met with tailored solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and pursue new business opportunities while collaborating with Client Solution Managers to enhance existing client relationships. You will engage with executive-level contacts, acting as a trusted advisor to assess their comprehensive banking requirements and deliver insightful financial solutions.

  • Trusted Advisor: Establish yourself as the go-to expert for middle market clients, providing innovative ideas and strategies to address their unique challenges. Conduct regular client assessments to ensure our offerings align with their evolving needs.
  • Business Development: Cultivate and leverage a robust referral network to proactively seek new clients. Work closely with internal partners to identify opportunities for expanding existing relationships and structuring comprehensive credit and non-credit solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with the Client Solutions Manager to assemble and lead a team of specialists, ensuring prompt responses to client inquiries and effectively showcasing the full range of our banking services.
  • Active Prospecting: Maintain a consistent focus on identifying and qualifying potential clients while balancing the demands of nurturing current relationships.
  • Credit Analysis: Make informed decisions regarding loans and terms within established limits, analyzing clients' creditworthiness to meet their borrowing needs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all banking regulations and internal policies, ensuring compliance in all aspects of your role.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Share your expertise by mentoring junior team members and contributing to their professional development.
  • Corporate Culture: Embody and promote the values of Umpqua Bank in all interactions, demonstrating a commitment to our corporate culture.
  • Travel Requirements: Be prepared for frequent travel as part of your role.
About the Ideal Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in Middle Market lending with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience serving commercial clients with annual revenues exceeding $25MM is preferred.
  • Strong background in business development and market share growth.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within relationship management teams.
  • Expertise in credit analysis and financial assessment.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new software.
  • Ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with complex credit structures and syndications.
